With reference to the second part of paragraph €
of my Confidential Despatch of 2nd. May, I am glad to be able to
inform you that I am now satisfied that the question put by the
Honourable Mr. Wei Yuk to the Registrar-General was misconstrued by
me. Hr. Wei Yuk's intention in asking the question was apparently to draw from the Registrar-General a statement which would be a
warning to Chinese who are not altogether loyal to this Government.
